Getting Started with PMON

What You'll Need
  • A Host computer system (UNIX or MSDOS)
  • A Target board
To run an application program on your Target using PMON, perform the following steps:

  1. If you haven't done so already, Download the PMON source from the Web site.
  2. Next you need to Extract the files from the archive.
  3. To configure the package you need to run the Install program. The following table provides a summary of the target types you need for each evaluation board.

    TargetTarget Type
    BDMR4101-be"All Processors Big Endian"
    BDMR4011-be"All Processors Big Endian"
    BDMR4102-be"All Processors Big Endian"
    BDMR4101-le"All Processors Little Endian"
    BDMR4011-le"All Processors Little Endian"
    BDMR4102-le"All Processors Little Endian"
    SDP1000"SDP1000 (L64008 MPEG-2 Transport)"
    L64363 (ATMizer2)"ATMizer-2 R-T SAR Engine"
Key: The "-be" means Big Endian, the "-le" means Little Endian.

  4. To prepare the package for use you must Build the package.
  5. Configure your hardware.

PMON requires an RS232 link between your host and port A on the Target. The actual hardware port name will depend on which host and Target you will be using.

  6. Build, Download and Execute your application on the Target.
